A journey to mystic world of 'Mother Nature'

>> Saturday, February 6, 2010

Few days back, I had a fabulous experience of traveling through the mystic world of 'Mother Nature'. Believe me, it was really an amazing experience. I have been to north-eastern part of India, the land famous or its indigenous tribal communities, high mountain peaks and gushing streams and rivers.

Heralded as the 'land of seven sisters and one brother', the north-east part of our country is one of the less explored region of India. Its really hard to believe that after such large scale urbanization, the this region of India still manages to maintain its virginity. Every nook and corner of the region is adorned with several hidden treasures which has enhance the beauty and makes it a fairy land.

My heart filled with the feeling of astonishment and excitement when a first saw such splendid beauty of Mother Nature. A train journey from Silchar, the southernmost town of Assam to Guwahati is the finest way to behold these unusual beauties from a very close point. The rail route from Silchar to Guwahati is divided into Metre Gauze and Board Gauze. Till Lumding, a small and tranquil hill town of Assam, the train runs on Metre Guaze track. This journey is very slow but I believe you won't mind this slow pace of journey as it is compensated by the exhilarating beauty of the region.

There are all total of 36 small and big size dark tunnels and two bridges through which the train passes. Whether a person travels in the day time or at night, it not at all decreases the excitement of journey. The outside view is really awesome. Verdant and deep jungles that houses various kinds of flora and fauna are stretches to large area. Vast farms of banana trees and pineapple plants are spread every where.

Its for sure that if you once visits this dream land, you will surely fall in love with the scenic beauty of the North-East India.

Mysterious Plain Of Jars

>> Thursday, October 15, 2009

Are you bored of luring yourself into the magical world of Harry Potter? If the answer is affirmative, than I must usher you to a completely different and mysterious world of “Plain of Jars”.

You might be guessing what the “Plain of jars” all about? Ok, let me unveil a unique land of jars in front of you. Similar to the magical world of Harry Potter, this region of Laos formally known as the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) of South-East Asia is a site to cherish.

From time immemorial, this “Plain of Jars” serves as a hot topic of discussion for both archaeologists and historians. Even they had captivated the imagination of each and every onlooker from several years. These massive stone jars are the most distinctive and enigmatic of all Laos attractions. They are scattered throughout the Xieng Khouang plain in the Lao Highlands at the northern end of the Annamese Cordillera, the principal mountain range of Indo-china.

Both archaeologists and historians are still in quest of the exact age of these stone jars. Some thought the jars might be over 2000 years old, but again this is just a speculation as no organic materials are around them, to detect their accurate age.

Several Laos legends and myths of yesteryears still dominates the stories of the origin and purpose of these jars. Some people believes that the jars were built to store rice wine during 6th century when Lao-Thai hero Khun Jeaum defeated Chao Angka. Despite local myth, the jars have been fashioned from solid stone, most from a tertiary conglomerate known as molasse (akin to sandstone), and a few from granite. Most of these jars are at least 1m to 3m in height and have weighed up to 600 kg.
